i understand he had a large influence on farmall's culti-vision/letter series streamline look:

curious if he also had a hand in the offset design concept...anybody know?

Fred - I think the answer to the offset design is yes. Pull up your second web address (wiki/farmall) and read the first paragraph. Al D

I don't have the proper reference material available right now. But as I recall, IH engineers had done considerable work on the offset design before Lowey was brought in to work on the appearance.

Lowey was also responsible for the man-on-a-tractor logo.

yes, thanks...i read that: "IH commissioned an industrial designer, Raymond Loewy, to give the new Farmall general-purpose tractors a sleek new streamlined look"

but a "streamlined look" is generally in the sheet metal...like his studebaker makeovers, shroud covers for the locomotives, etc.
i can see his touch in my cub's hood and fender shapes, and i would _like_ to imagine he is responsible for the offset concept.

just wondering if there was anecdotal evidence that anybody here had come across that proves it.

I would tend to think that he just designed the appearance of things, which is I'm sure an oversimplification. The cult-o-vision was for pure function on one row tractors. Which if it was design or appearance IH would of carried the offset on up to the C the H and the M so the whole line of tractors would be similar.

That and Jim says it ain't so, which is definitive enough for me.
