Need to replace the rears on my '48 cub. Local tire place says they don't have 8-24, but say they have 9.25-24 and it should work. Will that tire work? Opinions appreciated. Thx

Steve, Welcome to the forum. You have found the best place to get all your Cub answers. 9.5-24 tires will work , but will be a bit big. Ask them about 8.3-24's. Most tire stores should be able to get those for you.

To expand a bit on the 9.5-24 rear tires, using them will reduce the pulling power of your tractor in every gear but it will increase maximum travel speed. They may improve traction in muddy conditions.

...and decrease traction in snow as there will be a larger footprint with the bigger tire.

The 9.5's are usually more money too.
