If $15,000 is too steep, you might be more interested in this one; not even a picture of it.

Chief, if you ever show that check to our local engine machine shop I will come looking for you with a 2x4. If you take them an engine with pans off, covers removed, etc. but still assembled, They will disassemble, bore, replace pistons and gap rings, grind crank and reinstall with new bearings. do a valve job, and provide a gasket set for around $600. If valves have to be replaced or new seats installed that is more, but not much.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

OK John I won't show any one the check, But I droped the tractor off and picked it up when it was done, so I didn't think that was to bad,
and it saved me a lot of time. and the engine was in bad shap, I was not even sure they could fix it, But they did a good job.

Agreed, that one took some serious work. The shop where I took mine does not remove them, they only work on the engines. I have been retired for 10 years, so my time is pretty cheap. Chief, check your PM inbox.

John *.?-!.* cub owner wrote:Out of curiosity i gave him a call. He is an older sounding, or possibly other problems, gentlemen who cannot possibly be in error about it. He inherited it from his uncle, and KNOWS it is a 46, and that they started making cubs in 37, not 47. The $15,000 price is accurate and he would do a little dickering for someone who is really interested. I thanked him and said "Goodbye".

Bearing that in Mind, I would love to have one of those original 1937 Cubs. Bet noone around here has seen one. hehehehe

Looks like he has intentionally blocked view of serial plate. Would be very interesting to see that or engine serial or some cast codes. Must be related to PT Barnum or does not want to sell. May even be a visitor or member here. No serial or cast info would be a deal breaker IF I was interested. No money first, check pedigree later deal.
