Here We Go........

Well they're calling for the first real snow of the season tonight. Just about 20 miles east of here we did get about a foot of snow a week ago but we didn't get much. Now they are calling for up to 12" of lake effect snow. I've got the grader blade mounted but haven't put on the extra wheel weights and chains yet. I plan on doing that this weekend. It's a good thing I enjoy pushing snow with my Cub. Good seat time!! :{_}:

Don't forget pictures when your plowing.

I live in the hilltowns of Western Mass. The last couple "rainstorms" have ended up being flurries for us. Probably due to my elevation.

Less than 1/2 inch of snow before it changed to sleet and hard rain, all freezing rain since sunset. I hope the ice is melting as fast as it is laying.

Ricky, you're going to plow with the blade in the grader position? How well does that work? My Cub is a LoBoy so I would not be able to use the extension.

I think hes just calling his blade a grater, not that its mounted like one. I could be wrong though.

No, it's front mounted but it is a Cub Leveling & Grader Blade.

I must ask, do the tire chains make much of a difference? I don't have any for my Super A, but I can't imagine the treads of a field tire can't handle the job, especially with the wheel weights. I could be wrong. I'm curious about the matter

20 miles east got snow a week ago but here at 40 miles east of you beautiful bare ground. Blade, but not chains, is on the cub but haven't got the blower on the cadet yet. My favorite way to move snow. Only scattered flakes expected here. Vern

Tire chains do help. The Cub will push a lot of snow without them but where I need them most is when I'm out in the road pushing the snow off the side of the road it's easy to get the front wheels over the edge of the road / bank and once that happens, without chains I just set and spin. Sometimes I can work it out by alternating the brakes but while I'm trying to do that I'm hanging out in the road and we have a lot of traffic. It's kind of un-nerving. With the chains, it's not a problem.

IMO tire chains are a must. Changes in grade or deep snow would start my tires spinning w/o chains. I managed the first winter w/o them, but got stuck a lot. With chains, it's a whole different ballgame.

Sorry to hear you're going to get it, Ricky, but glad you like the seat time and are prepared for it. Be careful and have fun!!

Arrrgh... my mower is still on the cub and the blade is sitting out by the shed waiting to be put on!! I have been traveling so much for work lately that I just have not had the opportunity to get the blade on my tractor yet! We got about 2 inches of the slushy wet stuff and it would have been nice to clear off my driveway and the lane that goes in front of it, but for now, I just have to hope that it warms up and melts off for this time. I hope to get it all mounted up this weekend, though and then BRING IT ON!
