So I have been luckey with my cub last two years no problems just great tractoring. Now my governer seems to be stuck, cannot advance or retard the control lever much at all. I took the linkage loose yesterday and find it is all in good condition. The lever on the governer does not want to move easly at all. I can move it but it really sticke. So is my next move to remove the governer and what are the correct moves here. Also any tips will be helpfull. I did look at the section on making repairs wonce it is off but I need to be ssure and get it right comming off.
As always Thanks for the heelp.

Try putting Kroil on it first...sometimes they just get sluggish.

As Dave mentioned above, it is probably just dirt getting in the pivot of the linkage on top of the governor. If you have the good off, try shooting penetrant on the shaft and moving the rockshaft back and forth to see if it loosens up. In my case, I had to take the likage off altogether and clean it up well... Worked great after that.

No need to remove the whole governor from the engine to do that!

Use liberal amounts of Kroil and let it sit for a day or so. Then use pliers to carefully move it back and forth. Reapply Kroil if needed and repeat the process. Do not under any circumstances hit it with a hammer to loosen it. (don't ask how I know) They break real easy and are REAL expensive to replace.
