1955 Cub new owner

Hi all, I recently picked up a '55 Cub at a local yard sale. Since I live just outside NYC, it won't get much use as intended but will be enjoyed. The kids think I'm crazy, but I always wanted one, and I got a pretty good deal on this one and it came with various implements (Bottom plow, sickle bar, snow plow, fast hitch).
It runs good, and will be getting a work out today since we just received 6"s of snow.
This one will be getting restored, so the first thing I did was search out this forum. I must say, it is a wealth of information, with a lot of great topics. I've already downloaded all of the manuals that pertain, looks like I have a lot of reading to do. Thanks to the person who scanned everything and set this up.

I've started collecting parts that I will need for the restoration, which I hope to start after the snow stops flying.
I'm sure I will be posting with a lot of various questions as I locate parts and start the tear down and then the reassembly
Just want to say, thanks for a great forum

Check out the list of Cubfests...if you get a chance to attend one, you won't regret it. You'll get a lot of questions answered before you even knew to ask them!!!!! And if you have a particular problem simply take your tractor along and you'll see some eager, knowledgeable folks jump right in. Or just bring a small part like a carburetor for overhaul. Bring your kids and let them learn along with you.

As an owner of two '55 Cubs, I think you have one of the best. Get ready though. You WILL be expected to post photos!! They will help you document progress, ask questions, and reassemble your tractor. But we just love to see each others projects!!

Welcome and have fun!

Welcome neighbor! (I'm in CT) Your kids are just jealous because you're not going to let them ride your new little red machine! And yes we want photos! But first you have to name her...or him! You'll find we all name our Cubs. Yep we're weird.

So, good day plowing snow. She was a little hard to start, but ran well when it did. I've attached a photo (I think)
Looks like I will have to sort out some electrical issues. It doesn't appear to be charging. Ammeter doesn't move. Lights aren't hooked up. Previous owner took them apart to change to sealed beam and never completed. all to be sorted out on a warmer day. In the mean time, I will keep it on the trickle charger

It always amazes me how much snow these little cubs can push. Although I have bigger machines to move snow my cub gets it's fair share. Yours looks to be a nice looking cub. Good luck with your restore. I'm sure you will get to love it as much as many of us do. That fast hitch is also a nice addition.
