Interesting pushrods on Ebay

So, I've been putzing around the interwebz looking for a good deal on some pushrods for a c113 engine. I have 5 good ones. Anyways when I was searching around Ebay I found these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Farmall-ENGIN ... 4acf44855e

35 bucks for 8 seems good, considering wengers and steiners sells them for 15 and 22 bucks respectively for individuals.

What peaks my curiosity is why they are so rusted? I mean, in a good engine these things are covered in oil, so they can't really rust. So they must have come from an engine that was sitting around for a long time or the owner neglected to store them properly. You'd think the seller would clean them up right?

I'm curious to know your opinion on the actual usability and quality of these things.

The push rods will clean up and be usable.

There are folks and companies that purchase "fence row" tractors to dismantle and then sell parts. Clean up the parts, takes time, labor cost, and then there are the overhead expenses which greatly adds to the selling price.

It is either as Eugene said, or else they have been laying on someone's shelf a log time. I would be a little afraid of them. If you have anyone locally that sells tractor or engine parts check with them, including Carquest or NAPA. If you have a local engine rebuilder check with them.

Actually, I thought the price when shipping was included was a bit high.

In the Midwest there are a number of tractor salvage yards and folks who part out tractors.

Suggest placing an ad in "The Vine", on this site. Several members on this site part out tractors. I can think of a couple members that may have the push rods.

We get $5 each for used ones , if you do buy em used make sure they have not been bent, a common thing on 113 and 123 engines , if they have set for some time the valves will stick and the push rods will bend , as they will bend again if they have been straightened
