Winch On Sale At Rural King

Postby ricky racer » Sat Feb 15, 2014 4:13 pm

Rural King has 2 different 3000# winches on sale for $69.99. One is normally $149.99 the other is normally $99.99. I purchased the first one to add to my equipment trailer. It will be a "quick-attach" attachment that will allow me to transfer from one trailer to another. I buy delinquent Cubs and "stuff" that sometimes requires me to winch them on my trailers. I had a really good hand winch that has served me well in the past but for just $70, pushing a button will be much better. The winch comes with 45' of cable so there is plenty of cable to reach the end of my 20' trailer. With a snatch block the pulling force will increase to 6000# plenty enough to pull even the most stubborn Cub up on the trailer. Being able to move it from place to place, I'm sure I'll find other uses for it too.

I have a similar one on the back of my Cub to control my rear blade. I think the 3000# rating is with a snatch block. I does work god for lifting the blade though. Will make it a lot easier loading 'dead' cubs.

If it is not designed for a snatch block or no mention is made of one in the manual I would be wary of using one. While the snatch block would make the ability of the gears and motor higher, it will not help the bearings that support the drum, or the mounts on the bottom of the winch for anchoring it.

I read over the manual and I believe the 3000# is the straight line pull rating.

The manual actually recommends using the snatch block (included)."Double line with a pulley block to reduce load on the winch, wire rope and battery."
