Removing Rear Wheels how best support?

Postby pharmerphil3 » Sun Feb 16, 2014 3:58 pm

Good day everyone; I need to remove the rear wheels so they can be painted, and I am not sure how best support the tractor. In the past I have seen member's tractors simply resting on jack stands. Is this adaquite? Your suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for your time,
Phil

That's all I did. Had it on stands for a couple of weeks while I painted rims and had the tires at the shop getting mounted. No problem.

I have a bunch of 6x6 short timbers, for cribbing. Wedge the front axle, so it doesn't try to tip.

Here's what we mean by wedging the front axle...

And here's what we mean by tipping!

It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.
