I saw a mower listed on a local Craig's list. It said it was for a Cub, Super A, 130, or a 140. I know or thought I knew the PTO was different on a Cub. It is priced at $600.00 and looked to have been freshly painted. So is a Woods 42C-6 for a Cub? Thanks in advance, Tom.

Cub PTO turns reverse from normal tractor applications. The PTO shaft is smaller diameter and the number of splines is different. The "mule drive" would be more narrow for a Cub than a SA or other type Farmall tractors. Don't know about the mower ID number but someone will answer you I'm sure.

IFit is actually a Woods 42C-6 then yes it is for a Cub and a Cub only. It is NOT for all the others listed. So the seller is wrong on one or the other. The Woods 59 series will work on Cubs and everything listed though.

You can find manuals for the Woods mowers on Rudi's server (right side Manuals tab above) or since the 42C-6 is still in production from the Woods Equipment website http://www.woodsequipment.com/uploadedFiles/Products/Manuals/29900.pdf
They also have an application chart for what mower fits what tractor. Scroll down to the bottom of the list for 42's and 59's

Keep in mind the 59 is the same deck with different mounting hardware and mule drives for different tractors. Also the different versions (prior to the "-6") of the 42 for the Cub are all basically the same deck with different hardware and mule drives. Even if it's close to brand new and complete the $600 sounds just a tad high to me. What really sounds high is the price of a new one though.

Thanks for the replies to my question. Scrivet what is the price of a new a new 42C mower? Every time I call a dealership that sells Woods products, I contact someone who knows less than I do. Sometimes that's scary. Thank, Tom.

The price of a new unit is likely to vary from dealer to dealer. Woods does not sell direct retail. When I needed mounting brackets for my 59, I called three different dealers and got three different prices. The lowest was below Woods's MSRP and the highest was almost twice the lowest.

I've never priced one but I seem to remember seeing $1,300 -1,500 range somewhere.
