Cub distributors, is there any difference in them?
As to use between the six volt ignition and a magneto.
I have two which look internally different.
What is the proper lubrication for it? Grease or oil?

You seem to be talking apples and oranges. 6v ignition and a magneto are two entirely different animals - the 6v requires a battery to power the ignition, whereas the magneto generates spark without any outside power source. They will both work on a cub, and the 6v is interchangeable for all years before IHC switched to 12v (the magneto should work on any year, because it does not care what voltage the rest of the tractor uses).
Mostly they are lubricated with grease. There are two plugs on the sides of the housing that can be unscrewed and zerks screwed in to grease the shaft (doesn't take much). However there is also a felt pad under the rotor that takes light machine oil. Check the owner's manual at the manual link above for lubrication intervals and procedures.

Re: cub distributor
IH and Prestolite provided distributors for Farmall Cub's with battery powered ignition system. There are physical differences between the two distributors, but not significant.
Provide photos of your ignition system. There are quite a number of possibilities, from being a non-stock Cub distributor someone installed, to a magneto being converted with external coil.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: cub distributor
Thanks for info. Found that distributor was rigged by PO but
did not work well. I now have a replacement. With new points, condenser,
rotor and cap we should be up and running.
