touch control leak question

Postby rexxon » Thu Mar 13, 2014 7:09 pm

Touch control appears to be leaking around piston seals under leather boot, other than that unit works perfect is it OK to just open the unit and just replace the piston seals and leather boot?

Short answer, yes. However the unit is 50+ years old and since you will be disassembling it to replace the seals, why not give a total rebuild so maybe you won't have to take it apart next year and do it again?? Just a thought.

Working o one right now that was leaking, but it is only the control rod, which can be removed from the front. If leaking from the main piston you will need to remove the head, which will necessitate a new gasket.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
