Been a while

Postby John Niekamp » Sun Apr 20, 2014 8:22 pm

I just thought I would stop in and say hi to my Cub friends. It's been a while and yesterday I got old "PRB" (Puckett's rust bucket) or Kroil express out after sitting untouched for a few years. Outside of a varnished up sediment bowl and nasty tank a little cleaning and new gas he turned over about three times, fired right off and purred like a kitten.

I have a small plot of land in the country that I'm wanting to make a shooting range and with the help of my skid steer and the Fcub, it's coming right along.

I have tossed around the idea of selling it, (I still have my 55 loboy that has been sitting for years) but it really comes in handy and the Woods brush hog is a life saver on the terrain and eats those little saplings up in a hurry and it's easier on this middle age body than using my Bachtold.

We'll anyhow, I usually only stay on Facebook, but I wanted to stop in and say hi and I hope everyone is doing well. This still looks like the best site on the internet ;)

I hope everyone had a great Easter,

John

Nice looking Cub but it must be loud without a muffler. I can't imagine you wanting to part with it.

Welcome back John!

Actually a Cub is not very loud without a muffler. They sound pretty good with an 18" pipe.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks for the tip, I might try that.

Posco, No the Cub sounds great with a straight pipe, not loud at all. If memory serves me, the pipe is 1" and I made mine with stainless steel pipe. If one did want it quieter, they could always put some baffles in the pipe, but like I said they aren't load at all.

I will try to check in with from time to time. Good to see there are still several embers left from years ago. However it saddens me to learn Mr. George Willer is no longer with us. He was a very remarkable man, very talented and knowledgeable and overall great guy!

Here's why I call my Cub "Puckett's rust bucket" I think it was Mr. Puckett who actually named it "Kroil express" lots of Kroil was used to bring him back to life, lol

I've got one Cub with a muffler and one without. There's not that much difference between the two as far a noise.

Howdy John, been a long time.

Just got back from Boss Hog's Worlds Fair, swap meet and Cubfest.... it is such a fun time! The only down side is I-95 between us is the worst highway in the US for driving. But it's sure worth it.

Been busy mowing and snow plowing with the Lo Boy..... If you are bored got a bit of slide show:
