Can you work on a clutch with a belly mower on?

You will need to remove the mower to split the tractor or adjust the pressure plate fingers, if they need adjusting. Also, removing the mower to inspect the throwout bearing makes the task much more comfortable.
I have an excuse. CRS.

You can split the tractor with the mower on. All attachment points are behind the bell housing.

However, it is much more convenient to work on and around with the deck removed.

I adjusted the clutch fingers on my old Loboy with a Danco C-3 mower installed. If I can get my fat head in there to see, you should be able to do the adjustments on a Farmall, which has 8" more clearance.
