Throwout Bearing

Split the '50 Cub to see why the main shaft wouldn't decelerate properly after the clutch had been released. At any rate, while inspecting the TOB, noticed the graphite section spun freely in the cast carrier. This is an IH bearing, in good shape and well lubed. It has performed flawlessly since I've had the tractor. Anyone experience this before, and is this a potential problem?

I have had several aftermarket bearings with the graphite loose,falling out, never an IH one, the IH bearing has the part # on and says made in USA

Looks like it has been replaced recently because it looks so clean. I suspect it is a after market bearing. everyone of the after market graphite bearings I have used ( alot of them!) have failed. I will not ever buy another after market graphite bearing. all junk! as are the pressure plates!

UPDATE
Yes, the TOB is aftermarket. So (as an experiment) I drilled and tapped 2 holes 180* apart in the cast carrier and installed 2 set screws, with thread locker, to hold the graphite block in place. I soaked it in oil, made sure it was well greased (cheap grease) and installed it. (so far so good). Will monitor and report periodically. If it goes away, I will try Clark's modified IH/GM TOB.
