Wiring ( wire) needs !

Postby countershaft » Wed Jun 29, 2005 8:04 pm

Where do some of you fellows "buy" the wire needed ( like by the roll)to re-wire you'r Cub. I've heard not to buy a wiring harness, but rather build one yourself. I'm tired of running to the store for so many feet of wire. It would be more convenient to have some "rolls" around to cut a piece off when needed. thanks

Countershaft.
I buy wire on the roll all the time. I do alot of wiring either for cars or for the tractor. I bought a 100 ft of wire for the Cub, so incase i wasn't satisfied with my job the first time, i could just make a new one. I made my wiring harness, and it only cost $15, including wire, connectors, shrink wrap, and a mesh lume.

Hardware store. I usually get two 100 foot rolls of 12 gage wire, one red, one black at a time. Wire get use for everything - baling wire replacement.

10 gauge for the charging circuit. 14 gauge for everything else.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I've been getting my wiring supplies from waytekwire.com . They have most everything you'll need to wire tractors, including the expandable wire cover used on the repro harnesses. Prices are not bad either.
