Swinging Drawbar
I found a cub swinging drawbar and I must admit I'm not sure which way it's supposed to mount. the U shaped mounting holes in the drawbar anchor should open up I would think but I see pics of them opening down. As for the drawbar itself I assume the bar itself goes over the back curved drawbar with the little piece welded on it going under. Can someone show me a pic. I've tried TM tractor and Rudi's site but can't find one. Thanks!

Re: Swinging Drawbar
Thank you Arthur Luke. Sorry Larry G, I went back and finally noticed the link in the top right of the Implement hookup page for drawbars etc. I'm still a bit curious why they have the drawbar anchor installed that side up vs the other way. It'd appear to me that the force on it (other than pulling) would be upward from the weight of the implement levered over the rear drawbar thus the sturdiest way to have the bolts holding it would be with the U shaped holes opening up. But whatever. Thanks.

Re: Swinging Drawbar
The amount of the drawbar extending beyond the U bar is so short that very little upward force is applied. It was intended for such things as pulling a disk, which puts hardly any vertical force on a drawbar, but does pull hard.

Re: Swinging Drawbar
In the parts book I have (TC37F Rev 4) it shows;
the open slot for the bolts facing UP for the regular Cub
the open slot for the bolts facing DOWN for the Lo-Boy
In the 12-25-51-15B Operators Manual I have, it shows on Page 65, Special Equipment, Swinging Drawbar;
the open slot for the bolts facing DOWN on a regular Cub (no Lo-Boys in '51)
I don't think IH knew which way to mount it either

Re: Swinging Drawbar
I think the drawbar mounting location on the anchor is in line with the mounting bolts holes, so it doesn't matter if facing up or down. The swinging drawbar will be mounted at the same vertical height either way.
