Don't kill the messenger. Yes, Kil Deere, as in the bird.

So do you think this guy put in a straight shaft where the crank shaft normally sits with a v-belt pulley on it? Remove head, pistons, manifold, etc?
Oh no! White paint! It was a Demo Cub. Just kidding.
Plywood cowl and fenders. Blinkers added. Notice the throttle setup.
Brown primer paint job. Street tread tires on the front.

the bird looks to be fairly wide spread across the land.
Wish he had used a Harley engine with big pipes.

I'm actually wondering if he is turning the original crankshaft, perhaps minus the pistons and rods???? Hard to tell what's under that hood....

Rick,
I think you hit it. The original crank pulley is in line with the pulley on the Honda engine. The rest of the tractor would work like normal. Ironically, I'll bet it works just fine. Looks like crap, but I'll bet it works.

All I see is room for three more 11-horse hondas turning a jack-shaft connected to the other groove in the front pulley.

I really like the white accents  the implement mounting pads (why wouldn't you do both?), the insides of the front axle, the Cub engine oil drain plug, the stripes on the square fenders.................

Why?

My guess, the original crankshaft is still in place. Would need the original crankshaft with idler gears to power the hydraulic pump and the cam shaft for the oil pump.

Another question. If the original crankshaft is in place, How did they plug the oil holes in the crankshaft for the connecting rod journals?

Looks like something an 11 year old kid would do. Other than the engine having a higher rpms, 3600 RPMs vs 1800 RPMs, no advantage. The C60 engine has/had a higher horsepower than the current Honda engine.
I have an excuse. CRS.

How do they keep the bearings in the engine oiled? Do they pump the original oil pump? Have they taken the pistons and rods out or have they just taken the head off the Cub Engine to allow the pistons to move?

Just trying to figure out how this would possibly work? Think of the power loss from the 11 HP engine driving all of the engine components in addition to the driveline!!

You guys are probably overthinking this beyond what the owner considered. He may not even have oil on the remains of the Cub engine. Maybe he just knocked holes in all the pistons to make it turn easier. All sorts of things can happen when somebody starts looking at a pile of junk parts.

If its still there this coming weekend, I'll see if I can get a little nosey. Maybe the guys next door under the red tent will know. I'm quite sure they will have plenty to say about it. I'll start the conversation off with something like "Hey howdy guys. When you guys putting Toyota 22R engines on your Farmall H?"

Maybe not.

So true, Jim. But turning at the speeds of that 11hp engine, wouldn't it seize up with no oil in it?

What if he just fill up the pan ( over filled ) with dirty motor oil and just lets it splash around on the old crank shaft? Put a piece of foam from an old chair on top of the block and screw down the plywood. Who knows? Now I'm dying to get a look under the plywood.
Perhaps he doesn't use the TC hyd system and it does not work.

It is definitely interesting and if ANYONE could go take a closer look and take some pictures, that would be "neat" to see. Man.....the things some people do.......haha.
