Toolbox mounting

I plan on mounting a cheap metal toolbox on the cub. I was thinking of using a hitch bolt hole. Any there suggestions of where to mount a toolbox? Just plan on keeping some chain and some hand tools. I have even thought of using a old ammo can to keep them dry but my cub sleeps in the barn at night so it doesn't have to be water tight.

So suggestions? Comments? What have others done?

The accessory one made for the cub mounts under the seat. That is as good of a place as any.

Almost never have a mechanical problem with the Cub/tractor. The only tool I carry in the Cub's tool box is an adjustable wrench.

Hand tools, fencing tools, timber cutting tools go in the towed two wheeled trailer.

Depending on how far the tractor work area is from the shop/garage - - - I wouldn't bother adding an additional tool box.

I carry a 15/16" box and open end wrench mainly for the woods 42 mowers

The previous owner of mine mounted a toobox to the mower deck. That's handy, so long as you have the deck installed.

My Cub came without a box so I mounted one to the right fender. It is big enough to hold, gloves, a couple of wrenches (a 7/8 for spark plugs and a large adjustable), extra pins for implements, and the wiring harness adaptor for my mower hauling trailer. It could hold more but have not thought of anything that needs to stay with tractor for what I use it for.

Whatever tools I used to mount the implement I'm using goes in the cub tool box. When I take that implement off, tools come out. In addition I always have an adjustable wrench. Works for me

I don't have any particular tool or set of tools that I make a point of keeping on the tractors. If you were to look on one of them, this is the tool you are most likely to see. Back to the original question, didn't someone drill a couple holes in the back of a toolbox so they could bolt it to the bell housing? There are plenty of options on where you can mount one. You want to pick a place that is out of the way for whatever implements you use.

Arthur, It's to turn the sediment bowl lever. I think one end is for the "L" shaped lever and the other for the "T" shaped lever.

Yep....I made one for each of my Cubs...along with a gas gauge stick

I think you just gave me an idea for a combination dual style shutoff/gas gauge stick is now on my to do list. I can't see PVC being harmed by a quick dunk in the tank. I wonder how hard it is to see the wet area on PVC? Maybe copper or some scrap iron pipe I have lying around. That'd be heavy duty!
