well my tractor doesnt need to be split right now but i would like to formulate a plan for when that is nessary. what is the fastest, easiest option to support the back of the tractor. what is it that they are using in this video. it looks like something fairly simple.

Re: tractor splitting
The back is held up by a "splitting stand". In the "How to Forum" you can find multiple designs. It bolts to the implement pad. If you have an engine hoist, you can probably make one without the wheel. The wheel just makes it easier to realign the front and back.

You will also want a couple of these to simplify putting the halves back together. http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=84096&p=672098&hilit=alignment#p672072

Re: tractor splitting
Be careful with that front end when it's split. It can be downright unstable. Notice in that video the put a wedge under the radiator to keep the engine from flopping over on the axle.

Re: tractor splitting
They probably used two wedges in that split.
Using wedges not only keeps the engine from flopping over onto the axle, they also keep the tractor from flopping over onto the floor.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: tractor splitting
I think that picture of the Cub laying on its side must be the most shared picture on this forum! It sure demonstrates the worst case scenario for not using the wedges to hold the tractor in place...

However, it might make adjusting the clutch fingers easier....

Adjusting the clutch fingers would be the least of my worries.
