I'm going to be hauling my Cub a short distance in a couple of weeks. A while back I used a U Haul 6 x 12 trailer. It worked fine but was probably overkill. I'm thinking about trying a smaller 5 x 9. It has a load capacity of 1650lbs. My Cub only has a belly mower and no wheel weights or water in the tires. I may even remove the belly mower. Has anyone used a 5 x 9 before?
Thanks,
Kyle

What are you going to be pulling the trailer with. How far are you going to pull the trailer and is it on a rural Road or interstate. Most likely it will be fine if you just don't go too fast.ii

Yep... Pulled it 450 miles across Oregon and Washington with my '96 F-150 I-6 300. Didn't even know it was back there. Had a bunch of implements in the truck bed too. One thing I did was I backed the Cub onto the trailer...

What's the width of the tires on the Cub? If it's set at the widest setting, you may have to dish them in.
Weight wise I think you'll be fine. Make sure you have enough tongue weight. Not too much if your vehicle can't handle it, but make sure you have enough.

I've rented that trailer several times. Works great. I hauled my 2 Cubs from Chicago to Pittsburgh in a 5x9, and hauled my Super A the same distance in a 6x12.

Hello,
I forgot to mention I'll be towing it with Chevy Trailblazer. It should have plenty of towing capacity. Regarding the wheels, the gate on the 5 x 9 is 4"9" and my rear wheels measure out at around 4"3" so it will be snug but should fit. I'm hauling it about 20 miles up the road to the Cumming, Ga Steam and Gas Expo in November. I'll be going on the interstate for some of the distance. I'll also back the tractor onto the trailer which will hopefully put enough weight on the tongue.

You will be fine. I pulled a Cub home for Jacksonville Fl. in one of those. No problems what so ever. I think it only cost like 32.00 for 24 hours.

Hello,
Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll go with the 5 x 9. I just wanted to double check. Is anyone in the Atlanta area and planning to go to the Cumming Steam and Gas Expo?
