1000 loader ?

Postby shawman » Fri Oct 24, 2014 10:39 pm

Will a 1000 loader that is on a 70's style lo-boy cub fit a 54 cub? I am very new to the tractor game and don't really know what works with different yrs. and styles of these tractors. Thanks for any input you can give me.

Yes.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

The 'arms' bolt in different holes for a lo boy, mine were trimmed to accommodate a fast hitch. So along with making sure all the parts are there, check the tail ends for a factory edge.

If you are looking at a loader on a 154/185/184 Lo-Boy, it is probably a 1050 loader. It is a totally different beast than a model 1000. It will not fit a standard Cub or even an offset Lo-Boy.

This is predicated on the fact you don't have a numbered series Lo-Boy:

BW is right. If the loader is still on the Lo-Boy, eyeball where the "arms" bolt onto the final drives. There should be a lot of arm sticking out the back of the LB final. The loader is designed to fit on Lo-Boys, regular Cubs and Super A's thru 140's. On a SA-140 the rear most holes are used for mounting and the front holes are used for a LB. Sometimes you will find that a loader on a LB has had the rear part of the arms cut or torched off. I have had my loader on all the available applications and can attest they work best on a SA-140. There is just more tractor to carry the load.

If you don't have a loader manual, go to the first "manuals" link above, then go to "IH Implement and Attachment Manuals" just below the "French Cub" link. Click on the "1000 Loader Manuals" and you will find both a user manual and a parts manual. You can download those pdf files to your pc and then print hard copies to take to the shop.

I thank you for the replies. I guess I didn't look well enough at the ad the first time, this loader is a 2 arm loader, instead of the 1 arm 1000. He has it advertised as a 100 loader not a 1000, my mistake. In case anyone is interested here is the ad:
