Do I have to go back out and check?
Just about ready to call it a night but I did some snowplowing this afternoon.
Backed the Cub into the tractor shed, set the plow down, turned off the gas and let her run out.
But I don't remember if I turned off the ignition switch.
I forget what you call it, the button you pull out before you can start the tractor.
Will it run down the battery if it is left on?

Yes, and probably burn the points, too.

Magneto ignition - - - no.
Battery powered ignition system - - then yes - - - unless the points are open, which would be unusual.

Best case is you just kill the battery.

Re: Tractor ignition - need a quick answer
It depends if you have a mag or battery ignition. Mag, no problem. With battery ignition it may fry the coil as the battery discharges. The risk arises if the engine stops with the points closed, then the current will flow through the coil as the battery discharges. Personally, I would go out and check on the switch if you have battery ignition.
