First thing I would do is print out the service manual located at top of page under manuals. There is some preload info you need to look over. Did you get just the case or a whole transmission???

And Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. Mike gave you some good advice, do your research. According to where the crack is it might be possible to JB Weld it for a temporary fix. If you could check into a CubFest in your area you there it could be changed out. You can find CubFest listings on this forum. Or, if you decide to go with it, look into splitting the tractor, block the front axle, need a way to lift it, take plenty of pictures as you take it apart, the read on the adjustments that need to be made to put it back together.

That would be a good CubFest project (if it can wait 'til next year's schedule of gatherings). You'd have knowledgeable people to help show you how it's done (as long as you're willing to get your hands dirty too).

Would recommend downloading the manuals anyway and start doing research whether you do the swap yourself or take it to a CubFest.

Excellent choice! I will put you on the project list. :D
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.
