Mounting blade in snowplow position
I had some time, and some nice weather today, and I hadn't got it mounted yet, so on it went. I don't know what it is but I've mounted it every year for seven years. The first time I dug deep into the Navy word dictionary, it seems to get a little easier every year. This year was a breeze. I didn't even have to kneel down, just crouch. Even the new lift arm pivot bushing slid right in/on.

That's insane! I'm always on the ground replacing bolts and nuts and washers if nothing else! Then again it's only my second year.

Re: Mounting blade in snowplow position
Scrivet, They were predicting 6+ inches of snow here Christmas day night. I usually wait until it has snowed before dropping the C-2 and mounting the snow blade. Did it Christmas Eve morning and was done in less than an hour. Got about 90 minutes of seat time on Friday. About the same is predicted for tomorrow night. I enjoy plowing snow as much as mowing with the sickle mower.

Re: Mounting blade in snowplow position
that's why you need more than one cub, I have one for the 59 mower, one for the sickle bar and one for the snow plow

Re: Mounting blade in snowplow position
I have four Cubs. Normally I switch #1 between the sickle mower and snow plow, since those implements are rarely needed at the same time . This year I had the Woods 42 off #2 after it's clutch problems that turned into a "might as well" engine rebuild after the second split. So I decided that it was easier to put the blade on #2 and just leave the sickle on #1. I'm covered this winter for both errant snow flakes and rogue grass popping up in the ditches
I think what made it so easy to install the blade is two things. 1) Not having to remove the sickle. 2) the last time I used the blade I had it in the grader position so the blade was separated from the brackets.
I slid the blocks in and tightened them down.
I put the brackets and lift arms on.
Then I bolted the blade frame to the brackets. (a lot easier to lift and hold in position this way)
Then the lift arm to the blade lift V arm.
Hit the TC and drive away.
That was using two regular wrenches, might even use the big ratchet next time to go even faster!

Re: Mounting blade in snowplow position
before i got the third cub,I used to change from the sickle to the snow blade like you did in number 1, now I leave the blade on one and the sickle on the other. The one I have the sickle on has a broken ear and a piece of it missing, ( I call him Vince cause of the missing ear when I got him)I welded it and installed the engine brackets I bought from Rick Prentiss ,but I still worry about all the vibration of the sickle breaking the ear again. I wonder if the snow blade would be better on that cub?

Between the two, the sickle mower is probably your best bet unless you plow snow very gently.
