Radiator Install Question

Postby Tubby Creek Farm » Mon Dec 29, 2014 3:00 pm

So a few months ago my fan bearings gave out and took out my radiator. Y'all have been a big help!

I'm about to put it all together I have flushed the engine out (was actually pretty clean), checked governor linkage its good, I plan on running a tap tin the radiator mounting holes, a quick block sanding of the surface.

Is there anything else I should do?
What, if any, silicon or gasket adhesive should I use?

And of course I will oil the fan...

I'd check the flatness of the bolster with a straight edge. Then use some RTV or similar on both sides of the gasket. If you're not switching to SS bolts, apply some never seize on them as you fasten the radiator down.

I used spray on Copper Kote. Same sealer used on head gaskets.
I have an excuse. CRS.
