power angle snowplow/grader blade

Postby Curtis » Sun Feb 01, 2015 4:52 pm

I have been using my snowplow that a number of you guys helped with last fall, thank you, it works great. Now I am contemplating adding the power angle upgrade, but before I go to far, I have a question that I haven't noticed much discussion on.
How does the power angle work in the mid mount grader configuration?
I want to be able to use the blade in both the front mount and mid mount positions and am wondering if anyone is doing that with the power angle upgrade?
thanks,
Curtis

I have added the hydraulic angle modification on my 54a blade and really like it. It was a fun project to do as well.
I have not mounted mine as a grader yet...but will and I'm quite sure it will work much as it does in the plowing position.
I'm sure others with the modification will chime in. I used mine today dealing with the 12" of snow we got so far today and loved it! :{_}:

Thanks, what hydraulic cylinder and control valve did you use, any pics of the control valve installation?
I am always curious what other guys come up with on these mods. Won't be getting my tractor out tonight, snow turning to rain for us here in NE Ohio, strange way to start Feb.

Parts purchased
I'll have to look up parts info, but here are a few pictures that will give you an idea, If I remember all the parts totaled to about $250.00 but worth it to me. Since these pictures were taken I changed to steel lines from the block to controls.
Good luck, Bruce

Bruce,
Thanks for the pics, nice job! I like the idea of the steel lines from the block to the control valve.

Thanks Bob, I have seen Ricky's trip blade, in fact he helped me with some ideas for adjustable skids.
I use my blade, mid mount, for "grooming" gravel driveways as well as front mount , for snow pushing, I would have to have the trip system set just right for the gravel work. Do you know of anybody with a list of the parts for the power angle system, such as what size cylinder and valve combo that seems to work well? I am also interested in making steel lines to go from the block to the valve, but have no idea what the best way is to do that.

Ricky did a very nice write-up on his power angle project. I did a quick search for it but came up with the more recent trip project.

As time permits, I am going to start going through the projects forum and dig out helpful ones that would fit into the How To forum. I can then copy them over and lock them so it is easier to find those types of posts.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Here's mine that I did a few years ago, that Rudi posted under the projects forum. Have had 0 problems in those times but have to admit the the last 2 winters I have mostly spent in Florida. The Cub is semi retired again! http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=16581
ps have never mid mounted the blade so I cannot help there--

Cub.bub: I really like the idea of putting a hydrolic cylinder on your blade. That is a sweet upgrade for changing the directiion of your blade. I'll keep that in mind for sure!
