'47 Cub Serial #1847 - Thanks for your help!

Postby wglarsen » Fri Feb 20, 2015 7:09 pm

This is my first post, however I have been using the forum and contributor’s experiences and expertise frequently over the last year and a half during the restoration of my ’47 Cub, Serial # 1847.

The purpose of this post is to say thank you to all the contributors to the forum. This tractor has been in and out of my ownership for the last forty years. Unfortunately, while “out” the last fourteen years, it sat out in the weather and not running. So after a rescue a year and a half ago, I took her apart as far as it is possible and refurbished every part, nut, bolt, screw and washer inside and outside. The engine I took to a machine shop.

She runs great, looks great and will remain in my ownership and stored in a garage for the remainder of my life. I will do the implements this summer.

So, thanks again to all of you forum contributors for help with a very successful and satisfying project.

Also, thanks to -

That is a beauty! You did an excellent job in it.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

That is indeed a very beautiful job - congratulations!! And with that real low serial number, you are certainly entitled to place the Circle Cub decals on the dog leg below the headlamps, and thus join a really exclusive group of Cub owners!! Al D

Very nice job! If it was mine I'd get different hood decals. That low of a serial number will make it a circle cub so I'd put the "Farmall" hood decals on it with the Circle Cub emblems on the dogleg panels.

Great job on bringing the '47 back to life! And a Circle Cub to boot!

Just a word about safety: Every time I see a picture with someone giving a child a ride, it makes me nervous. I'm sure you wouldn't want an accident and are being careful, but just a word of caution about giving people (especially children) a ride. These tractors are not toys nor designed for multiple riders. It just takes one wrong move or unexpected action to turn a fun outing into a tragedy.

Thanks for sharing!
