193 Plow - Couple of Questions

Postby PVF1799 » Sun Apr 19, 2015 4:20 pm

So the last time I used our 193 plow on Rex'48 I was about 14 years old so just over 20 years ago plus or minus a few years. :D We never had a book for it, until now when I pulled it from this forum. :D

I noted that the chain fastener to the lift arm in the parts manual is totally different than mine (as shown below). Also, we never had a chain going from the coulter mount to the drawbar adjusting lever. To that point we never had a coulter and still don't.

If you note in the photo the chain holder for the lift arm is IH RED - we never painted it - but I'm told the implement (plow) and the part in the photo should really have been blue.
Your thoughts on the real color? Yup - know it's my choice.

That looks like one half of the chain lift for a set of 189 plows. Both of mine are a faded shaded of red.

Thanks Chris - I checked the 189 PDF parts list and sure enough that's it. Now the search is on for the correct chain for 193.

Ken, Do you need the chain or the hook that connects the chain to the rear rockshaft?

Ken,

If memory serves me correct, Tim Talleur (tst) was making new ones. You might want to check with him if you cant find one in your "magic barn."

Are the special tabbed plow bolts still available from IH? I need to replace a few of them - May change them all as there are not that many.
