Square Nose Grill emblem

Postby bob in CT » Thu Apr 30, 2015 4:52 pm

Anyone remember what a new square nose grill emblem looked like? Mine is faded and I was going to brush in new red and black but the the white plastic looks cruddy too. Was that a closer to a pure white? Now it looks more like the 935 white but I think that is due to the age and sun damage.

I painted my white grill today with 935 white to match the hood. It should look a lot better than rusty streaks. I also painted a few parts (white) for my 54A plow and the breather cap that I forgot to do this winter when the hood was painted.

DAGNABIT! I just found two parts that were blasted and ready for paint and I had enough paint mixed from the bottom of the can to finish them today. Oh well. I still have to paint the blade anyway and I will probably paint one side and flip it and paint the other side another day. I don't think I will be hanging that one from the clothesline with coat hangars.

Time for

Thanks Don. Call me crazy, but I think I am going to fix mine. This helps with the color, I think I need and antique white.

You might try cleaning it with alcohol or acetone but you have to be REALLY careful with the acetone as it will melt the plastic. If it doesn't clean up then I'd shoot it with 935 white then repainted the red and black. However, new ones are available online for $20. I just bought one to go on my CC 682 and I'm really happy with it.
