No spark

Postby Jason H (PA) » Mon May 04, 2015 7:35 pm

I dug out my fathers cub from my garage. Been sitting a long time, but had started it once in a while. Now i want to use it it will not start. Went into checking why and found no spark. Dug deeper and looked into the points and when i pulled the points open they arc. Cap, rotor, wires and plugs are all new. Any ideas what to look into. A friend of mine suggested that i lost ground to the coil! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jason

Clean the points, cap and rotor button. Also crank it over with the cap off to make sure the rotor button is turning. Most likely it's just glazed points.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
