New Brake Linings

Could someone tell me how to soften new brake linings so I can bend them to put in my brake bands Thank You.

I've used a heat gun and spring clamps to bend them around an extra brake drum in a vice. If they are a continuous material without the "finger joints" ever 3/4", you can bend them without heat. If they have the finger joints they will tend to bend or break on a joint if not carefully curved.
