Thank you for the compliments. My only regret is not taking more time with painting. My goal was to have it running within a week after I got it home. But the motor was stuck, so I figured I would do some painting since I had to take it apart. The easy parts (wheels/hood/coolant plumbing/lights) were painted first. The body was painted later, and was not disassembled fully because I wanted to get things going back together as soon as possible so I could get it running. For another 5 to 10 hours of work, I could have done a much better job painting. It never would have been show quality since I did the painting, but it could have been better. I always remind myself that I would have never painted it if it had been in running condition when I got it. I also would not have learned about the inner workings either.

I used the alkyde enamel paint because it was available locally and was less expensive. The Cub will be stored out of sunlight, so I am not worried about fading.

I need wiring information. My wiring harness arrived and came with instructions about all of the connections. I need pictures that show the routing of the wires. Where it comes up under the hood and how those wires are routed to the headlights, etc.

Look in the manuals linked at the top of this page. The '49 edition of the Owner's Manual has pictures that show the wiring. Also, in the Cub optional equipment section is instructions for installing electrical equipment. It is for the later tractors with voltage regulator and battery ignition but the wire routing is the same and shown in detail.

Hi,
There should be 4 clips under the right edge of the hood to hold the wiring harness and battery to starter cable up in position. 2 clips are welded under the hood, you have to bend them open to get the wires out, or closed to hold the wires. I don't know if you have the long or short ear dash, they call it. On the short ear, that's the newer one, 1 clip goes behind the screw farthest ahead that holds the hood on, and 1 clip goes at where the 1/4 inch hole in the hood is, above the oil filter.
The clips are sometimes gone that fasten on with screws.
Here are pics of the 2 dashes from TM Tractor. The battery cable should go more straight up the side of the dash than they show in their pics. The owner's manual shows a good picture of it. :)

Thanks for the wiring info. I had to get out and do some flying and haven't messed with the Cub for a few days. Today, I went out and removed the hood, and installed the generator. I am going to try to get it all wired up in the next few days, but I ran into another snag. I can't find the nut that holds the light switch into the dash, or the bolt that holds the light switch knob in place. Went to the hardware store, but no luck for either item. Are those parts available anywhere?
