Cub won't stay running

Postby Wrose2 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 3:34 pm

I'm having issues with keeping my cub running. It starts and runs fine for about one minute and then it dies. It restarts right away and then dies again after about a minute. Even at higher idle it still dies. Thanks for your thoughts and advise on this.

Sounds like a clogged jet.

Yeah, I checked that. It's good. I'll take another look just to be sure

You should have a steady stream of fuel. Check by removing bottom plug on carb. If not...
Check fuel inlet to sediment bowl in tank.
Check sediment bowl screen.
Check carb inlet screen.

Also sticking needle valve and float hanging up in closed position as well as fuel shutoff in full open position.

"float hanging up in closed position". This could be the problem, I'll check that tomorrow. This would make sense because it acts like it's running out of fuel.

Is the carb bent in the float area. Sometimes the previous owner whacked them, with a tool handle, or worse, to free a sticking float. I've seen some, quite dented, enough to stop the float movement.
