NEW '56 CUB PROJECT
I need to have myself restricted from perusing Craigslist!!
I just returned from purchasing my 4th ...a '56 Cub that was in the process of being rebuilt when the owner passed away. I was unable to get it running, but plan on picking it up in Florida and taking it to DSCF in February, where I can get help from the "experts". Mr E, can you put me down on your list of projects?
I will be hauling one cub down from NC and picking up the FL Cub, then heading to DSCF, if anyone wants to add some express items...already bringing a set of mower casters and maybe a set of tires. Just PM me if you have something.

Re: NEW '56 CUB PROJECT
A couple photos...these are from the Craigslist ad. It has a fast hitch, and front and rear wheel weights:
and here are some I took. They show the tank removed, and some parts already replaced by the PO, such as platform, seat post (also have "new" seat), battery box and steering wheel:
2 new rims, one mounted with new tire and one unmounted (& one leaking final seal):
A nice pony tank, new ignition parts, plug wires, some cultivator parts:
And even though he had installed the new points, rotor and distributor cap, he had bought a Petronix Ignition Kit, still in the box:
Even though I could not get it started in the short time I was down there, I did check the hydraulics while I cranked it (with a NEW BATTERY), and the TC moved correctly. I also checked that the PTO at least was engaging, so hopefully it works right as well.
All in all, I am quite happy with it, and look forward to getting him/her running.

Always her. Always. Even if you give her a masculine name (like I did).

Re: NEW '56 CUB PROJECT
BTW, I had someone ask about buying the fast hitch, but I don't know what they are worth. Any suggestions for an asking price? Since it is mounted, I know everything is there, including the helper spring, and I did turn the leveling screw and it turned easily.

Re: NEW '56 CUB PROJECT
NO, NO! Just figure I don't need a second fast hitch. I will probably put a mower under the new cub. Maybe you need th FH?!

With all of those "B" names in your barn, "Bobbie" has a nice sound to it. Stan

I will only say that it is for the same reason that ships and aircraft are always female.

Re: NEW '56 CUB PROJECT
Congrats on the new Cub! I had seen that ad on CL and am over in that vicinity from time to time. I really can't handle that much of a project right now, so I'm glad she went to someone on the board who will take care of her.
There was a second Cub listed just down the street from this one that was a little more turn-key about the same time I saw the posting for this one. Did you happen to investigate that one? I haven't had a chance to, yet.
