Front Bumper Ideas

Postby Tubby Creek Farm » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:05 am

Hello All,

We are looking to install some Bump-N-Drive gate openers on our farm. http://www.bumpndrive.com/

We still use our cub a lot around here and putting some type of simple front bumper on her is needed. Now my front axle is widened so I have a set of holes I could run some bolts through to bolt on a simple bumper maybe using PVC to damper the bumping of the gate.

Any ideas or previous experience?
Would/could this be too much twisting force on the bulkhead/axle pivot?
Would it be better to mount something from the implement mounts mid tractor? (This seems like it would be in the way. I will be using cultivators, scratchers mid mounted and rear mounted.

I just don't want to screw up our nice little tractor

Thanks

I would suggest buying one of Barnyard's hitch receivers. It bolts to the front axle pivot point. Simple job from there to put a bumper in it

Put a trailer hitch receiver on the bottom of your steering bolster and use that to mount a bumper, very useful for maneuvering trailers too. This might be overkill for your needs, but suits me for keeping brush out of the headlights and guarding the radiator and tie rods.

PM Barnyard and he can give you prices and shipping cost for the receiver part that he has made.

Check eBay, I had one like this I bought from Brad Homstead a former member of the forum. Paid $200, and sold it for $200.
