I did a little work tonight, this is the worst dent on the hood. I used the stud gun to weld some pull pins and work the dent out. here are some pictures

The metal that is used on these tanks is rugged unlike the stuff todays cars are made of.

the filler is all sanded and ready for primer. i'll prime it tomorrow with 2 coats of etching primer and them with a filling primer.

Nice job getting that dent out.

I had a similar dent on my '55 Lo-Boy tank. It would have been easiest to just fill it with a half golf ball size of Bondo, but with the stud gun, slide hammer and a little torch heat, I brought her back out with no issue. It was probably a quicker repair than waiting for all that Bondo to harden too.
