1000 loader pressure relief valve

Postby mrfarmboy87 » Fri Jan 01, 2016 7:23 pm

Me and my dad just built a weight box to mount in my fast hitch for ballast while moving snow. Given the dimension we estimate its around 280 lbs. We built a bracket to mount to the top of the transmission with a chain to support most of the weight so the hydraulic system isn't supporting all the weight. Anyway my dalima is that when i used the loader to unload from my truck it wouldn't lift it. Does anyone know if a 1000 loader has a adjustable pressure relief valve?

There is a cap on one of the ports on the valve that has to be removed. It looks like an acorn nut. if memory servers me right it is on the left side of the valve looking from the seat. If you increase the pressure you will stress another part of the system. Make sure all your hoses are in good working condition they tend to be the week link in the lift system.

A relief valve that has failed or gotten much out of adjustment is fairly rare (a broken relief spring would do it). I'd suggest checking the other possible sources of the problem before changing the relief adjustment. I'd at least externally check all hoses for integrity and any soft spots. Make sure the return line from the loader reservoir to the T-C filler doesn't have any air leaks. Then doing a load test on the main T-C system would probably eliminate a lot of possible problem areas. After all that, look into the loader pressure relief. Use a pressure gauge to make any adjustments. Getting the relief pressure too high will put a strain on things including the hoses, the engine timing gear train, and the hydraulic pump shaft seal.

Details on testing the Touch Control are in a serviceman's guide and testing the loader pressure relief are in the loader operator's manual. Both are in the manuals linked at the top of this page.
