A 51 would have come with a vertical exhaust. It looks like the previous owner replaced it at some point...

Scott, welcome to the forum. Looks like you're off to the races on this one. Also appears you've got the picture uploading down pat.

Valspar is a good paint. Several of my friends have used it with good results. If you decide to add hardener to it, please take every precaution to use the appropriate air supply breathing equipment. You can do a search on here about people using hardener and the effects it has wrecked on some. Serious stuff.

We like pics, so keep us posted and the pics coming.

I assume you already have done so, but will mention the PDF manuals available for downloading via the links at the top of your screen (PDF Manuals and Rudi's Manuals). Both sources have a wealth of info that should be your primary source of info. The How To Forum also has an abundance of info you may find helpful.

You live in a great part of the country. Not too far from some CubFests that will be happening this year. Check our the CubFest schedule and pick one to attend. You won't be disappointed. CubFests schedule here: http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=8

Again, welcome! :coffee:

Thanks all for the encouragement. The guy that I bought the tractor off of said they changed to the underslung because his dad used to mow with it, I guess for clearance issues. I have removed it and am going to go back to the original vertical style. I continued more prep, it seems like it will never end. Every time I think it looks good I find more 60 year old gunk. I am making progress tho slowly but surely. I finally was able to get the right fender unstuck and removed, hammered it out and will be able to sand it later to prep for smoothing. Thanks again all.

Pressure washers can cause harm too! Keep it away from gaskets and radiator. Don't ask how I know this, but I had to change the trans oil in a 68 Ford 2110.

itpdk9 wrote:Thanks for the heads up Glen. I just checked the stamped serial number is 127429 so I guess from what you said the previous owner replaced the tube with the longer tube and dip stick. Interesting. Learning something new with each day. Thanks again.

Could this number possibly be "137429"??
