ID WOODS 42 Mower

Anyone willing to take a guess on this mower model number? I've looked at the pdf manuals and can't decide which one to download. The mower is probably 30 years or more old and was on a 76 FCub. I have all the parts except the rear belt guard. Thanks, Stan

C-3 or C-4, I think the rear mount is a bit differ between the two.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Could be either a C-3 or 4. The picture angle is wrong to be able to tell.

At the top of the parts list in the Woods manual;
C-3 has an overrunning clutch (which this does)
C-4 has the opening to change the blades from the top (which is blocked in this angle if it's there)

The page I'm talking about from Rudi's manual's

Jeff, the C-4 has a removable cover where as the C-3 does not. This one has the cover off. Therefore I now believe it is a C-4

Where the mower "arms"mounts to the mule drive : There is one hole on the c3 and 2 holes on the c4... If I remember correctly , one uses a bushing through the mounting hole and the other does not.

Another view: the "arms" have two holes and the inset photo of the attaching point on the mule drive shows angled with multiple holes. Also a closer view of the area in front of the spindle. Thanks everyone for the help.

Another view of the spindle/deck. Looks like the two studs might be for the cover that Barnyard mentioned.

Have any pictures of the cover? I'm not sure what it looks like, all I've ever seen is like this one.

Are the studs to mount the "safety" cover for the pulley. Never seen many of those either. :D Or is it the same thing? :?

Scrivet,
This is not an ideal photo of my 42C-4, but it does show the main pulley cover mounted to the deck.

I found this page from the manuals for WOODS mowers. Looks like it is a C-4. Thanks for all the comments and help. Stan
