Prime the oil pump. Theres a hole in the oil filter housing. Squirt a couple of ounces of oil into it, then turn the engine over and watch for oil spitting out the hole. May need to repeat the priming. When a stream of oil comes out of the opening, close up the filter housing, and you should get oil pressure.

I did the same first time I serviced my cub. Makes your heart sink when oil pressure gauge will not come up!

Hi,
Welcome to the website. Here is a picture of where the hole is, just remove the oil filter top, and it is easy to see, use a light if you need to.
I fill a clean oil can with motor oil, and pump it into the hole, you might need more than one filling of the oil can to fill the passages in the engine. :)

Fantastic post, brilliantly answers every query about priming the oil pump / system.

Hi,
Thanks for the kind words, UK-Cub. I only wrote half the info, Ed wrote before I did, and probably knows more about a Cub than I do. :) :tractor:
