Prime the oil pump. Theres a hole in the oil filter housing. Squirt a couple of ounces of oil into it, then turn the engine over and watch for oil spitting out the hole. May need to repeat the priming. When a stream of oil comes out of the opening, close up the filter housing, and you should get oil pressure.

I did the same first time I serviced my cub. Makes your heart sink when oil pressure gauge will not come up!

Hi,
Welcome to the website. Here is a picture of where the hole is, just remove the oil filter top, and it is easy to see, use a light if you need to.
I fill a clean oil can with motor oil, and pump it into the hole, you might need more than one filling of the oil can to fill the passages in the engine.

Fantastic post, brilliantly answers every query about priming the oil pump / system.

Hi,
Thanks for the kind words, UK-Cub. I only wrote half the info, Ed wrote before I did, and probably knows more about a Cub than I do.
