Starter Question
Hi All, I'm new here and new to Farmall. I just bought a 51 Cub and am trying to get it running before I do anything else. The tractor has been converted to 12V. it looks like it has the original starter, part number 1109603. There is no battery installed and I was trying to turn it over with a battery charger. I got nothing, I dissasembled the switch mounted on the starter, it looked ok. I tried to ground the starter and touch the terminal with the pos. charger cable still nothing, I guess I need a new starter? Any Ideas?

Re: Starter Question
The Cub's starter takes around 150 amps to operate. Most home battery chargers only provide 10 or 15 amps, no where sufficient enough to operate the starter.
Either install a good 12 volt battery or try some very heavy duty jumper cables.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: Starter Question
you can use jumper cables from your vehicle, just don't try to drive it too far.
