I just got myself added (or perhaps re-added) to this forum. Thank you for the add. This is a great post for a person like me. I'm mechanical, but this old system is a bit foreign, and I don't want to ruin anything by diving in eyes wide shut! I appreciate the guidance that these groups provide.

Just got my First farmall Cub. I am at a total lost of where to start. It has not been started for several years. Not sure if it will actually start,

Hi,
I would read the Cub owner's manual, if you never have before. It has much info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. I posted a link to one on page 4 of this post. There are owner's manuals for different years of Cubs on this website, at the top of the page, at Cub Info, then go to Rudi's Manuals.

If the Cub has not been started in years, the oil pump probably needs priming. The pump can lose it's prime sitting for years, or less time than that too. If the oil pump won't suck up oil from the oil pan, after losing it's prime, then there is no oil pressure when the engine is running.
Engine damage can happen running the engine with no oil pressure.

Below is a picture of where the hole is that I use for priming the oil pump. Just remove the oil filter top, and oil filter, and it is easy to see, use a light if you need to.
I fill a clean oil can with motor oil, and pump it into the hole, you might need more than one filling of the oil can to fill the passages in the engine.
Put the oil filter and cover on before starting the engine.
Watch the oil gauge after starting, it takes 15 - 20 seconds for the gauge to show pressure, it has to fill the oil filter housing before the gauge will show pressure.

This will be a mind-stretcher for me. I haven't replaced and set points in 25+ years. I still have my feeler gauges and dwell meter though.

Anybody know if point-cam grease is still available and where? I haven't seen that stuff for years either.

Wow call me lucky never heard of priming the oil pump. I just started my cub after it sat for 24 years and it has good oil pressure.

Tractors Owned: 1450 Hydrostatic, with loader, no air breather, has busted muffler, bad seat, probley paid to much, it started , bucket lifted, bought it, waiting to make repairs before moveing it to much.
Farmall M , been using for 15 years around my place, mows cedar as good as grass.

Brought home q 1450 loader, so card won't idle right, no breather, some body panels missing. Should I change out hydro oils, what little has leaked, looks clean. Haven't been able to go through it yet.

I think you're referring to a Cub Cadet 1450, which is in the section below the Farmall Cub section. This thread, I believe, is for what to do with a Farmall Cub when you bring it home.
