DRaymond, If you'll scroll up to Scrivets post, there is a link to a pattern for the grass board. The stay rod is 7/16" rod. The ID of the loop is 1 1/4". If you thread the rod, you'll need 32". The threaded end is about 1 1/2" before you hit the flare. I think the originals were cast, but you can weld a washer as a stop or weld a carriage bolt and cut the stock about 2" shorter.

Thank you Bob, I did try to open the files on link referenced on Scrivets post (Rudi's) but the message I got was that they were not on the server. I was able to copy the .tif file of the drawing though.
