Cub Runs for A Minute Then Cuts Off
Can't seem to find out what's wrong. It started about a month ago. I would be pushing snow and it would just cut off and did it more and more. Now it runs a minute or two then shuts down but then starts right back up. I am thinking coil. Any advice would be appreciated. Johnny J

Re: Cub Runs for A Minute Then Cuts Off
One minute is about how long it takes my Cub to die when I shut off the fuel at the tank. Thinking partial restriction in fuel flow.
Check the fuel flow through the carburetor.
Edit: Tractors with a coil problem usually run for around 20 minutes before the tractor shuts off. Then there is a lengthy cool down period for the coil before the tractor will start again.

I have an excuse. CRS.

As Eugene said, check your fuel flow for a good flow and not just a trickle. That should solve it.

A failing ignition condenser will also give you the same symptoms
To check for fuel starvation, first check the float bowl drain to see how much fuel is in the carb when the motor quits. Then shine a light into the fuel tank to see if a pebble or piece of wood is near the tank outlet, then check the brass fitting going into the carburetor, which has a small strainer which might plug up.
If either are okay, check the float valve inside the carburetor to see if the seat has backed out.

Re: Cub Runs for A Minute Then Cuts Off
Good information can be found in GSS1012 in the manuals links above. Maybe this will help. Depending on the tractor's past history you might have an external coil with a magneto instead of the one like the last picture. StanfarmergiffIV wrote:What are you referring to as the coil?
