I was just out riding the Cub around while the milling machine is running and wanted to let anyone know who hasn't ever taken their spring seat apart and cleaned it/greased the shaft that it makes a world of difference. I weigh about 178 lbs. and our '49 Cub the seat moves very little with me on it and even if our 4 year old is sitting on my lap. This '47 rides so much better now that the seat actually has some spring action. The '49 seat will be coming off soon for a post cleaning/greasing!

Right after you posted this I went out and did mine. Easiest ten minutes in the garage and only two bolts. Disassemble, sand off rust, clean, grease, reassemble. Made a world of difference. Thanks.

Hi,
My Cub seat rides better with greasing it that way. :)

Can someone give me the dimensions of the hand crank rod? Where the bends are, how long etc. I need to make one for this Cub. Thanks in advance!

I found another leak and addressed it. The seal where the magneto goes was leaking. I beat it up pretty bad getting it in and was hoping it wouldn't leak. I slid the drive thru it and don't think I tore it or nicked it but who knows. Went to the local parts store and got a National 450313 and replaced it. We will see what happens. The other leak besides the head gasket was a valve cover bolt, took it out last week and put a red carb washer on it with the new copper washer and it is not leaking anymore. Still glad I didn't paint it red before assembling it all. I'm almost ready to take it home.

Took the Cole fertilizer off the '49 and put it on this '47. Anyone know where I can get some original looking Cole decals for the hopper? I need to get another hose as well for the double drop. I forgot to bring the lid with me, I will take a picture of it and add it another day, I made it out of an old..............................

Got it loaded on the trailer ready to take home. I took it apart at home and brought it here to work one piece at a time and assembled it here at work, my wife, son & daughter haven't seen it since reassembly.

Nice to know it's back together, running right and the only thing ahead of you is cosmetic renovation (my personal favorite). Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

If you don't mind, keep us informed on your prime and painting venture. We'd like to see this thing thru to the end with you. :coffee:

If TST can't help you, then a good picture of an original decal with go a long way with a sign shop. They'll be easy to make.
