Remember this pulley with brick nails holding it on? Jim was being facetious when he made this comment about this pulley after I had thrown it in the scrap pile. After reading somewhere for a sickle mower the pulley was hard to find and Jim's comment I dug it out of the scrap pile and I have plans for it, thanks Jim!

Yeah, we are a little slow at work now but it is that time of year when everyone's budget has ran out and they are waiting until January to get their parts made. I bored it out and have to get the piece I want to put in it, stay tuned!

Extra credit challenge: Use the brick nails to form the splines.

Re: Restoration Project - Four digit Cub
Look what I found yesterday! I figured since it was going on the '47 may as well mention it here. Stopped by a friends yesterday and was looking at a Cub he has he's parting out and I saw this rear light on it and ask him what he wanted for it. He said you tell me what you'll give, I threw out a number and he said let me get some wrenches. I said unbolt it up close to the battery box and he did. It's in pretty good shape. The serial # on the tractor was 92XXX. I don't remember the last 3 numbers.

Re: Restoration Project - Four digit Cub
I have one on my '48 Super A. I don't THINK they started making them until later, but they're cool so I put one on it!

I found this old thread about them and about half way down the first page says they were on serial # 210000 and below. Hopefully someone can tell us for sure what years they were on. viewtopic.php?p=204952
Here's the quote "it is called a combination rear light andtail light they are in the cub/cub loboy tractor parts catalog tc-37F page 18 group 08 electrical cub tractors w/ serial no 210000 and below 6 volt 353 268 R92"

They were listed in the section of the parts catalog that covers electrical equipment for serial 210000 and below, which isn't the same as being used on all tractors in that range. It just means it was used somewhere in that range.
This style combination lamp was authorized in 3/48. It was probably available for dealer installation shortly afterwards. It was not listed as optional equipment in the Cub brochures in 1950 but was by 1951. The brochures may not have completely kept up with minor options that were available. By 1952, the combination light with the red light set in the main reflector was available. The early style combination lamps may not have been installed at the factory for much more than one year. Since they were sitting on dealer shelves, they could have been bolted onto anything.

I really like working on the old, teardrop style lights. Looks like yours has both lenses intact and not beat up. The rotational switch on top can be disassembled, cleaned and re-used.
Here's a How To thread I did some time back: http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=91025&p=720580&hilit=light#p720580
Enjoy!

It's in pretty good shape other than the outer ring, it was unsalvageable.

The lenses cleaned up really good with oven cleaner and a toothbrush.
