I woul try condenser first as you say coil isn't overheated,codenser will act that way also cheaper.

I have the same issue and am currently pursuing fuel blockage issues in tank/sediment cup/fuel line, which I'm pretty sure is the problem. However, I'm curious about the open coil possibility, and was wondering if there's a quick way to check continuity across the coils when they're hot?

Here's a post on this topic that tells you how to check the coil when the engine stops: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=94493&start=30#p748676. The test for the spark from the coil tower works the same for magneto or battery ignition. Good Luck, Stan
