Re: cubs and rain ?
A blast of rain on the magneto/distributor can short them out. I think the main exposure is the grounding stud on the magneto and the corresponding coil wire stud on the distributor. Usually they will keep running. I've been thoroughly soaked while running old Farmalls more times than I can remember.

If you're concerned, you might look for something like this at a good auto parts dealer.

My Cub ran well through a down pour pulling the Church float in a local parade.

If it was raining hard enough I guess that could make the word "float" a reality.ricky racer wrote:My Cub ran well through a down pour pulling the Church float in a local parade.
Please, please, tell me the church float was about Noah.

Re: cubs and rain ?
thanks guys , i just dont remember the subject discussed , and we do get a lot of rain here annually . part of the " justification " i gave my wife when i bought the first cub was it would come in handy for cleanups after a hurricane ( which are also plentiful here ) . with seven cubs and one on the way , i've run out of "excuses" , uuuhhh , i mean reasons . coppersmythe..............................................( thanks for the photo ricky , im getting into more parades , and my fear was a trailer full of folks and getting caught in a good rain, and pushing the cub back to my truck )

If you're worried, spray the distribuor cap with WD-40 in raning weather.

Re: cubs and rain ?
Been in the rain bunch of times on my Cub. Distributor not a mag.
In fact, I made it through a downpour on the trailer coming home from RPRU in MO. Got home still in the rain, hopped up on the seat and fired it right up and drove it in the shed.
I wouldn't even waste the effort to hand crank my B if the humidity is real high. It has a mag on it. They like dry weather.
