Cub Seal Numbers

Postby schmibm » Mon May 02, 2016 9:50 pm

Has anyone compiled a full list of seal location and part numbers for all the seals in a whole Cub? This would be extremely helpful information to have when going through a full restoration. It could be broken down by trans, PTO, final drives, steering, etc... Gaskets are not too big of a deal, but you gotta have all the right seals.

Thanks,
Brian Schmidt

TM has each section broken down, and all the parts listed. Good idea to buy from site sponsors, since they sponsor this site for us.

A good habit is to break down parts one at a time and determine what you took out and look for that replacement and making a list.

That is one way to do it. I prefer to have all the parts on hand when tackling a project. This works especially well when you are under a time crunch. Then you don't have the project sitting in pieces for a week or two while waiting on the parts to get there....

Part of this question is more than simply trying to find alternative parts sources. As I mentioned above, this tractor is a 4H project. Listing all the parts required for the rebuild is something that is required. How nice it will be to use the ATIS site mentioned to copy and paste the part numbers and not have to dig through all the parts book pages and possibly miss something.

I put that list together based on cross reference information from many people on this site. I don't recall ever making sure very seal is in the list. (It has been a long time.) However, looking the list over now, it looks pretty complete. The only one I can think of that isn't listed is the one in the Touch-Control pump (only for tractors with the first style pump).

Well Jim, I want to say thank you for putting this list together way back when. I think this document will be very useful to us. I will let you know if we find anything missing as we work through it. It would seem that this should belong on farmallcub.com somewhere. I would think it would be a useful bit of information for years to come.

I found there are a few seals available from NAPA that are not on that list, but they can cross reference them...I think on the final drive housing. I must mention, though, that the Tinken seals that TM sells for the final are a tad heavier duty than the SKF seals from NAPA. I have used both with no problems so far.
